Project Censored - Nonviolent resistance to US imperial policies around the world - 02/04/14

In the Project Censored show this week Mickey Huff and Peter Phillips focus on nonviolent resistance to US imperial policies around the world. Their first guest is School of the Americas Watch founder Fr. Roy Bourgeois, where they discuss upcoming events and actions on that front; then, recently they caught up with Prof. Peter Kuznick, co-author with Oliver Stone of Untold History of the United States, who talk to us about efforts to resist ongoing US imperialism with an update on what’s happening in Japan; and they close the hour discussing the annual San Francisco State University series the Gandhi-King Season for Nonviolence, joined by event organizer and instructor Kenn Burrows along with Renee Soule to learn more about the weekly events planned that run from now through April 22nd.

Mickey Huff in Studio with Peter Phillips interview  Dr. Helen Caldicott – A prominent pediatrician who left her medical practice in 1980, after the Three Mile Island nuclear accident (33 years ago) to publicize the dangers of nuclear power and nuclear weapons on earth and in space.  She will be addressing the real dangers of the Fukushima diaster. For the 2nd half of the show they talk with Jim Riccio a lawyer who has worked for Greenpeace since 2001 as its Nuclear Policy Analyst.

Mickey Huff in Studio with Peter Phillips interview Dr. Thomas Moore author of the new book “A Religion of One’s Own.”  Thomas Moore was monk for twelve years, and also an university professor, musician and psychotherapist.He has written several books including the best seller “Care of the Soul.” He holds a Ph.D. in religion from Syracuse University.

On the Project Censored Show on Pacifica Radio, Mickey Huff speaks with Shahid Buttar, executive director of the Bill of Rights Defense Committee about NSA surveillance and the growing resistance to such programs, he also talks about Guantanamo 12 years on, and other civil liberties issues. In the second half of the show Sarah van Gelder, co-founder of YES! Magazine returns to the program to discuss “Ten Hopeful Things That Happened in 2013 to Get You Inspired for What’s to Come.”

The Project Censored Show, Pacifica Radio Friday, January 3, 2014, 8 A.M. looks at sixty-year history of China  from the Great Leap Forward, through the Cultural Revolution and the Communist Party today. In studio with Peter Phillips for the hour is Professor Dongping Han author of “The Unknown Cultural Revolution: Life and Change in a Chinese Village. Joining him also is Ann Tompkins educator/activist who worked and studied in China for five years during the height of China’s Cultural Revolution.

Recently, hosts Mickey Huff and Peter Phillips had a discussion with independent journalist and filmmaker Danny Schechter, author of Madiba A to Z: the Many Faces of Nelson Mandela; and Dr. Amer Araim, who worked at the United Nations for 14 years to end apartheid in South Africa and has written about Mandela’s legacy and the situation in Israel/Palestine. This week's Project Censored Show is from our JFK special. This hour we air our interview with Mark Lane.

This week on the Project Censored Show on Pacifica Radio, Peter Phillips and Mickey Huff recently interviewed Mark Lane as part of their four hour JFK anniversary special. We air that interview in our hourly spot this week. Mark Lane is an attorney and a leading researcher/author on the assassination of President Kennedy. From his 1966 bestselling critique of the Warren Commission, Rush to Judgment, and later work Plausible Denial, to Last Word: My Indictment of the CIA in the Murder of JFK, Lane is noted as a key expert in matters regarding the JFK assassination and subsequent government cover-up.

Project Censored Show on Pacifica Radio November 29 Mickey Huff and Peter Phillips present another installment in the four-hour series they produced on the 50th anniversary of the JFK Assassination. For the hour, they interview Peter Dale Scott, author many books, including Deep Politics and the Death of JFK. The discussion looks at the phenomenon of Deep Events, and the long view of the role of a rogue and secret US government involved in various assassinations and covert activities of the past sixty years. Project Censored - JFK Special with Oliver Stone - 11/26/13

Oliver Stone is an award-winning filmmaker. His movie JFK stirred national controversy in 1991 about the assassination of JFK that lead to the passage of the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act by the US Congress in 1992. Stone is co-author of The Untold History of the United States book and television series.

 

Peter Kuznick, Ph.D., is professor of history at American University and co-author with Oliver Stone of The Untold History of the United States book and television series.

Project Censored - 10/14/13

On the Project Censored Pacifica show Mickey Huff and Peter Phillips review a selection of the most important news stories not covered by the corporate media in 2012-13 from the now released Censored 2014 yearbook. They interview Nolan Higdon regarding his new posting “Disinfo Wars: Alex Jones’ War on Your Mind.” Additionally, they play segments of the newly available award winning documentary Project Censored the Movie—Ending the Reign of Junk Food News including an interview with the late Howard Zinn.
