We then turn our focus for the bulk of the program to an Update on 9/11 research and activism.  Richard Gage, AIA, founder of Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth will be talking about the final version of their film, Explosive Evidence: The Experts Speak Out.  Dr. Paul Rea will deconstruct the so-called War on Terror and discuss his recent book Mounting Evidence: Why We Need A New Investigation into 9/11; and we’ll hear from longtime peace activist Carol Brouillet throughout the hour talking about her decade of seeking justice and truth surrounding the events of September the 11th.

First, we interview Harrison Wills President of the Associated Students at Santa Monica College, where students just successfully resisted an attempt by the College trustees to establish a two-tiered fee system. And We will hear from Robert Wilkins CEO of the East Bay YMCA on National Healthy Kids Day. At the bottom of the hour, it’s Steve Zeltzer with Work Week Radio; we’ll conclude the show with an inteview with Jennifer Eagan President of the California Faculty Association chapter at CSU East Bay specifically dealing with the Strike Vote now being held at the CSU campuses statewide.

Fukushima and the Cascading Impact of Nuclear Power on the Planet.

We’ll begin the program today talking about recent news stories surrounding the ongoing nuclear crisis in Japan; we’ll play a prerecorded interview with Prof. Akira Murakami, professor of North American culture and media literacy at Akita University, who was recently in the SF Bay area at the behest of the Ecological Options Network; at the bottom of the hour, it’s Steve Zeltzer with Work Week Radio; we’ll conclude the show specifically dealing with The Nuclear Industry and Health as we engage in conversation with Joseph J. Mangano and Janette D. Sherman, authors of “An Unexpected Mortality Increase in the United States Follows Arrival of the Radioactive Plume from Fukushima- Is there a Correlation?” recently published in the International Journal of Health Services.

In our second segment, Steve Zeltzer of Work Week Radio will interview molecular biologist and injured Phizer scientist Becky McClain and David Bell, an injured worker at Agragquest where pesticides were being genetically engineered.   We’ll focus on the risks of synthetic biology and the corporate interests behind it.

We’ll conclude the show with a living legend:  For seven decades, Selma James has been a champion for women’s rights and a critic of racism and capitalism.  Her latest book is titled Sex, Race and Class—The Perspective of Winning.

In the second half of the program we’ll be joined by Kenn Burrows of the Holistic Health Learning Center at San Francisco State University and hear about a series going on there right now called Season for Nonviolence.

We’ll hear about the Against Cuts Conference happening tomorrow at Berkeley City College, student organizer Dielly Diaz joins us from UC Berkeley; Lisa Graves of the Center for Media and Democracy returns to the program to discuss the American Legislative Exchange Council- and ALEC’s recent censoring of the press in AZ; at the bottom of the hour we hear from Steve Zeltzer of Work Week Radio with the labor calendar; and we conclude the show we talk to attorney and president of the Public Banking Institute Ellen Brown about a Jubilee on Student Loan Debt, which is one of the many concerns of the Occupy Wall St. movement.

Today’s show we celebrate one year on the air at KPFA Pacifica Free Speech Radio as part of the Morning Mix; we’ll hear an interview with Prof. Robert McChesney, a leading scholar and activist for media reform, on the state of the media in the US; we’ll hear from Steve Zeltzer of Work Week Radio; film producer Cindy Piester joins us to talk about the new film “On the Dark Side in Al Doura, A Soldier in the Shadows” that Addresses Soldier’s War Crimes Allegations & Iraq Atrocity Photos and we’ll also speak with the father of US Army Ranger John Needham (Michael Needham) to tell his son’s story; and we round out our one year anniversary show on Pacifica with a few words from interim GM at KPFA Andrew Phillips and a short conversation with Media Roots founder and PC contributor Abby Martin.
